Can the salmonella bacteria spread from eggshells?

Contraction of Salmonella is through four F's: finger, food, fomites, feces. Salmonella can live through surface and can do harm when ingested. Some pathogenic species of Salmonella are S. typhi which cause typhoid fever, and S.paratyphi. Contraction of these organisms causes diarrhea, fever and rashes on the stomach. One advice is when eating raw egg, try to wash it thouroughly before opening to prevent contamination of the inside.
