All my friends are cheerleaders but im not?

All 3 of my friends are cheerleaders.Were going into the middle school and im afraid theyll leave me.im really shy so i didnt try out.before we used to hang out with this one girl and she didnt hang with us alot and they gossiped about her behind her back and im afraid that will happen to me.also they will probably be hanging out with this one girl (whose also a cheerleader) and i dont like her.what should i do?
